Course - Rehabilitation Nursing in Portugal
Date: 21 March 2018
14h00 - 17h30
Introduction:
Rehabilitation nursing is gaining more importance in several clinical settings due to its uniqueness and complementarity in the actual and potential responses to patients and their caregivers. Its intervention is based on the concept of caring in nursing and on the importance of functionality and its influence on the quality of patient care delivery.
Rehabilitation nursing care can be provided to individuals at all stages of the lifecycle with the purpose of preventing the risks of changes in function which lead to activity limitations and/or disabilities. It also focuses on the promotion of the readjustment to self-care of patients with special needs (Regulation of the Quality Standards of Specialized Rehabilitation Nursing Care, Ordem dos Enfermeiros, 2015).

The objectives of this course are to give visibility to the competencies acquired by Rehabilitation Nurses, as well as to their positive contribution in the recovery and maintenance of patients’ function and autonomy.
